Nickname (if any): Scout
Car Features: 1776 cc engine, Dual 34 Pict carbs, Lowered, Tinted windows, Bamboo parcel tray.
Mechanical/Cosmetic changes in the works: Eventually paint and replace carpet and interior panels.
Any work that you did/do yourself that you are particularly proud of: Recovered seats.
Why did you pick this particular model?: When I first saw a Notch at a show, I immediately fell for the pure aesthetical beauty of the Notchback's lines and curves- especially the back end.
Any stories/facts about this particular car: This actual car is the first Notchback I ever saw. It was at a Vintage Vw Show. I loved it in black. Everything about the model and set up, the stance, the tint, everything was great. I filed away the special memory of seeing it at the Vintage Show and Shine, and kept my eye out for a Notch.  To my surprise, only a few months later, I saw not just any black Notchback for sale, but the actual car on the Samba.com. The Fates had spoken and in spite of not really having the expendable income at the time, I knew that this was the car for me.
How being a member of MPAS improves your Vintage VW experience: Just interacting with he other Vw owners has made me so much more knowledgeable about the internal workings of the cars that I mostly appreciated for the beauty alone. Also, I have made so many new friends...all with the common interest  of Vw beauty and appreciation.
Final Comments: Vintage Vw's are mobile art. Form and function all wrapped up into one.
