Mechanical/Cosmetic changes in the works:
Recently I had the front-end worked on. The front-end was narrowed and can now be raised or lowered. Future work to be done will be a voice-activated TV monitor and suicide doors with electric windows.
Any work that you did/do yourself that you are particularly proud of:
Actually, I have half the credit on working on my VW. With the exception of the body work, paint, & interior. The rest of the project was done by me.
How you became interested in Vintage VW's:
My best friend Darren Galbiso, his brother started the first Cal-Look VW in Salinas. Once I saw it, I was hooked.
Why did you pick this particular model?
At first I didn’t have any idea what year I wanted to get until my best friend brought back picture from a car show called the Bug Jam. It was a picture of an oval window all Cal-ed out.
Any stories/facts about this particular car:
This VW was actually supposed to be a daily-driver project. But, after a friend from Southern Cal. took a look at it, he said that I wouldn’t get any credit for all the work done under the carriage. So, I went for it and went Full-Custom.
How being a member of MPAS improves your Vintage VW experience:
Back when I got my bug, my best friend Darren Galbiso started a VW club. The VW club name was Central Coast VW’s. I am glad to be a part of another VW club again.
Final Comments:
I like influencing people in getting a Volkswagen or just appreciating it. Being in MPAS will help people realize that vintage VW’s are still around.
